History

S&F Communications was founded by Steve Fronton in 1982. Steve began his telecommunications career as an apprentice with a local independent telephone company. While serving that apprenticeship he attended numerous formal, telephone company-sponsored training classes, including Basic Telephone Installation, Advanced Telephone Installation, Basic Aerial Line Construction, Basic Business Phone System, Advanced Business Phone System and Outside Plant Engineering/Facilities Management. After receiving his journeyman rating, Steve went on to found S&F Communications, LLC.

During the early years, S&F primarily served the operating telephone companies, as well as the utility industries. Services for these industries included aerial and buried construction, underground construction, copper cable splicing, facilities engineering, premise installations and rollouts.

Today the marketplace is changing exponentially as new technologies continue to emerge. While S&F offers many of the same services it offered in its early years, its services now include structured cabling, fiber optic testing, termination and splicing, business phone systems, copper and fiber optic training, RFP/RFQ preparation and copper and fiber fault location. Our customer base continues to include operating Telcos, as well as business, office, manufacturing, educational, medical, hospital and other campus clients.

S&F technicians hold certifications and certificates in Structured Cabling Systems, Fiber Optic Theory, Fiber Optic Termination and Splicing, Firestopping, OSP Construction, Confined Space Entry, Shipyard Safety, Mill Safety, Asbestos Awareness, OSHA General Industry and Construction Safety and many more, both non-manufacture specific and manufacture specific.
